Green Day/Fathers' Day Picnic

Come and join our joint Infant and Junior Green Day/Fathers' Day Family picnic on Friday, 11th June, 2010. Events will be taking place in the afternoon for everyone to take part in. You can purchase your picnic from school at a price of £1.80 per child of £3.10 per adult. The picnic consists of a freshly baked baguette with a choice of filling, a home baked cake, a piece of fruit and a drink. If you have not already placed your order, then please do so by the morning of Monday, 7th June. The children have been asked to bring in items (empty) that will help with activities. These are:

Small variety cereal packs
Medium/large pebbles
Juice cartons (waxy type)
Cereal packets
Shells
Circular cheese packets
Old wrapping paper
Old clothes material
Plastic milk bottle lids

Breakfast Club

We are starting a breakfast club on Monday, 14th June.

Children must arrive between 8.15am and 8.30am and for £1 can buy:

2 pieces of toast with either jam or honey and a glass of fruit juice
or
1 piece of toast and 1 crumpet with jam or honey and a glass of fruit juice

Kingswood Residential

A group of our year 5 children are off to the Kingswood Centre at Grovesnor Hall in Kent on Sunday, 6th June. We wish them a very safe journey and hope they have a very enjoyable time.

Normandy

Everyone had a good time at Normandy. The children met french friends, taking part in joint activities with them. Getting the chance to practise their french speaking, they found that they liked many of the same things. They learned a lot about World War ll and its effect on France. Due to a coach breakdown, they were unable to visit the caramel factory but instead went for a walk and tried french chips and crepes.

Please note that next week, Country Dancing and Badminton will not be on as the teachers are supervising the Normandy trip.

Summer Bounce

Come along this Friday, 21st May to the Summer Bounce from 3.15pm to 6.15pm on the Junior School Field. Admission is £5, ages from 3 years to School Year 9. Raffle 1st prize £100. There will be bouncy castles, 10ft slide, pole joust, army assault course, gladiator duel, refreshments, BBQ, ice cream and much more.

Walk to School Week

A reminder that Walk to School week takes place from 17th to 21st May.

Please support your child in this initiative by encouraging them to walk to school. This is not only the healthy option, because of the exercise, it also helps to cut car journeys and pollution.

Remember to have a good breakfast so that you won't feel too hungry by breaktime.

Safer Surfing (A parents' guide)

Are you confident that your child is safe on the internet?

A letter will be coming home this evening offering parents a free 3 week course using the Thurrock Adult community college mobile classroom. Starting on Monday, 7th June, 2010 at 1pm, the course will highlight the potential risks when children use the internet.

To reserve your place fill in the slip at the bottom of the letter and return to the school office.

Neighbourhood Police Team

Your local neighbourhood policing team will be holding a Surgery on Saturday, 29th May, 2010 from 17.00-18.00 at East Tilbury Post Office.

Sats Finished

Well done to all Year Six pupils who tried hard with the English and Maths Sats tests. Now they have finished, everyone should have a really good weekend.
